Stacks of fresh, crisp, green moniez being thrown down on the felt tables... clay chips not just being handed out, but being practically thrown at you... the glory that accompanies winning, whether it is real and or just devised within your own mind and will fade... crowds of people surrounding you, watching to see how someone could possibly be more successful than them at this "simple" game...
I made my first trip to dover this weekend and none of these happened to me. Well, when i was daydreaming before we left, all of those are exactly what happened, but never in reality. I drove down with ab, emmy, caitlin, and kate which was probably the best part of the trip because i still had my money in pocket. After plowing through a snow storm we made it to the golden nugget. I wasn't nervous but i didn't want to get hassled by anyone for being underage, i mean who does? Anyway, we got to the golden nugget (what a terrible casino name by the way) and had been in there for less than 2 minutes when a security guard walked over to me and asked for my id. Of course, i "left it in the car" and evacuated to the rainbow casino. The rainbow was way more chill and we all pretty much ended up at the same table. I have never officially gambled before, but i was told that black jack was the best way to lose my money. Things went well at first...until i realized i only had 20 bucks left out of 100. Pete abby and me took our last few bills over to the roulette table and put 50 down on red. we won. then my little friend named greed told us to put down our 100 on red again because lets be honest, 200 sounds A LOT better than 100. want to know what color it landed on? i will tell you. green. really, that is soooo lame, i would have rather lost my money to black than troll green. double zero, really? what a terrible number. greg ostertag is probably the only human being alive who was happy it landed on double zero. oh except for the mexican guy standing next to me who put like a grand down on double zero and won 35:1 odds. he was pretty happy too. but not us. but put all that aside and the trip was great. we had quite the assortment of dealers, some with personality, but all quirky. there was a guy from pc there throwing down 500 dollar chips like they were painful for him to hold in his hands, and on the way home emmy spilled her hot chocolate all over her... groin... comedy at the expense of other people is wrong so if you laughed just now, then tisk tisk. just kidding. but really. ok i hope you all felt like you got to share this experience with me, but i'm off to s week now so stay up boys and girls.
p.s. after writing this i discovered that it is not the golden nugget casino, which is located in las vegas, nevada. the casino which denied my business was in fact the nugget casino, in wendover. i apologize for the error dearest readers.
